The growing population of the senior community increases every year. More and more elderly people are staying active and living healthier lifestyles. This has increased the need for activities for them to enjoy and participate in both daily and weekly.
There are many different activities that are available for the senior community to participate in. The Rotary Club is just one active club that organizes activities for this group. It helps the seniors participate in social and physical activities. There are many different types of activities that are available for seniors through rotary clubs. An active hobby for people of all ages is stamp collecting. It is especially good for seniors because it is an activity that can be done by sitting in bed if they happen to become confined to a bed. Stamp collecting has many different areas and topics that can be fun and exciting for the collector. A stamp collector can bring in any age group to participate.
The Rotary Clubs put together camera clubs that do different activities like picture competitions and outings to different locations to photograph. They also organize and coordinate bus trips to other cities to shop or attend a special event or concert. Rotary clubs put together groups to go bowling and attend the theater to watch a movie on the big screen. The clubs also organize simple games and activities like bingo, chess, checkers, embroidery, crochet, knitting, patchwork, and even picnics in the park. Some rotary clubs even provide seniors with yoga and Tai Chi.
Recreational clubs and fitness centers put together fitness programs that are geared for the senior community with low impact exercise and programs that are made for a group of people rather than individually. There are some organizations that concentrate on individuals that need special one on one attention. A big activity that most seniors like to participate in is Bingo.
